专利说明:

The invention relates to a data page for an electronic passport booklet, whether it is a conventional passport or a radio-frequency contactless reading passport. It also relates to a passport data page, and a booklet passport, sewn or stapled, incorporating such a data page. In the following, the invention will be described mainly in connection with a passport, although the invention can be used with other security documents using a data page.
State of the art
The term "data page" in the context of the present application, or "Data Page" in English terminology, a relatively rigid insert, generally made of polycarbonate, forming the page of a passport booklet where the biometric data of holder of the passport. It is generally understood that the data on such a page of data should be very difficult to modify or falsify, without very specialized equipment.
This data page has the same format as the other pages of the passport book, except that it has a hinge at the fold and collapse area of the passport pages, so that the data page can be assembled. with the other pages of the passport, usually by sewing or stapling the different pages of the booklet in the folding area. In order to reinforce the strength of the tear-off data page, the hinge includes an extension of material, generally made of plastic.
Thus, document EP 1 245 407 B2 (Gemalto) already discloses a flexible passport data sheet which combines a layer of plastics material (polycarbonate) capable of receiving data inscriptions by laser, which is relatively resistant to a large number of data. bending, with a much more resistant to flexural HPDE ("High Density Polyethylene") layer, which extends into the hinge of the data sheet. These layers are laminated together using a lamination layer, and the assembly has a fairly large thickness of about 600 micrometers. Despite this significant thickness, this data sheet has a fairly low resistance to tearing compared to a passport booklet, because all the layers are plastic enough easy to tear at the seams of the booklet, despite the plastic extension extending beyond the hinge.
Goals of the invention
A general object of the invention is therefore to propose a new design of an insert for passbook data page passport or other security document in the form of a booklet, which has no aforementioned drawbacks.
A particular object of the invention is to provide a passport booklet data page, comprising an insert having a new hinge structure, both more economical to produce than known polycarbonate hinges, and above all more efficient in terms of strength. at the tear, while being compatible with electronic passports incorporating a metal layer forming an antenna.
Another object of the invention is to provide a data page for passport booklet offering more opportunities to incorporate reasons or security markings that can withstand the falsification of passports. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION For this purpose, the principle of the invention provides for providing an insert structure for passport book data page, comprising a hinge reinforced with a metal layer, and making it possible to manufacture data pages having less thickness than the known data pages.
A first type of insert for passport book data page comprises a metal antenna obtained in particular by removing material from a solid metal sheet, and allowing communication with a remote reader. The invention provides for extending the metallic layer for producing the antenna, beyond the folding and sewing zone, to act as a hinge of the insert and the data page which incorporates the insert. . This hinge is particularly resistant to tearing and tearing, while being very economical to achieve, and while ensuring the realization from a single metal layer of both the antenna and the hinge. The invention is also applicable to a second type of data page insert, namely non-electronic data pages, devoid of antenna. In this case, the insert is formed by a multilayer structure having at least one polyester layer, and at least one metal layer, but without an antenna, this metallic layer being again extended beyond the folding zone, in order to increase the tear resistance of the data page.
In order to further increase the flexibility of the hinge of the data page, the invention further provides that the insert of the data page has, along its hinge area, perforations, for example in the form of a nest. bee, for locally softening the insert. The invention therefore relates to an insert for passbook data page passport, formed by a multilayer complex and having a hinge where the pages of the latter are sewn or stapled together, characterized in that it comprises in combination at least a plastic layer, and at least one flexible metal reinforcing layer, together forming an extension that extends a distance beyond the hinge, so as to enhance the resistance of said data page to the tearing and tearing compared to the passport booklet.
Thus, the plastic layer gives the insert a high resistance to tearing, which is known per se. But the addition of a metal layer gives this insert also a high resistance to tearing the insert and the data page that uses it, compared to the sewing of a passport booklet.
Preferably, this insert is an electronic insert provided with an antenna, and the antenna is obtained directly by removing material from said metal reinforcement layer. In other words, it is the extension of the metal layer used to make the antenna, which extends beyond the hinge and is therefore intended to be sewn in the passport booklet with the other pages of it .
When this insert is used to make a passbook data page, the pages will be sewn both through the metal layer and the plastic layer, giving the data page a higher resistance of one order of magnitude. magnitude to the resistance of the known data pages.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the distance from which the metal layer of the insert extends beyond the hinge, which corresponds to the width of the metal extension, is between 2 and 15 mm.
The metal layer will preferably have a thickness between 10 and 30 microns, and the plastic layer will have a thickness of between 20 and 150 microns. As a result, the total thickness of the insert will be between 30 and 180 micrometers. As a result, a data page using an insert according to the invention may be thinner and easier to integrate into a passport than those known, while being more resistant.
According to one embodiment of the insert, said plastic layer is made of polyester, very tear-resistant, and said metal layer is made of aluminum, very resistant to tearing and yet very flexible, which allows the passport booklet using the insert to stay closed naturally.
In order to secure the layers of the insert together, the aluminum layer is adhered to the polyester layer with an adhesive having 2 to 3 micrometers thick, for example polyurethane or epoxy.
In addition to the advantages in terms of strength and thinness just mentioned, the insert according to the invention can also easily be provided with visible safety elements. For this purpose, on said extension of the metal layer beyond the hinge, one or more security elements visible directly by reflection of the light, or in watermark, able to increase the resistance of the data page to the falsification.
Several security elements are conceivable, such as engravings made in the metal layer, filigree patterns, holograms, laser etched patterns, or patterns obtained by cutting, hot stamping, embossing or embossing. on or in the metal layer. The invention also relates to a data page for passport booklet, comprising an insert according to the invention, and a passport booklet comprising such a data page. Other features and advantages of the invention will appear on reading the detailed description and the accompanying drawings in which: - Figure 1 illustrates a cross-sectional view of the insert according to the invention; FIG. 2 represents an exploded perspective view of the insert of FIG. 1;
detailed description
FIG. 1 shows in cross-section an insert 10 for an electronic data page intended to be sewn into a passport booklet or other type of booklet (not shown). The insert 10 essentially comprises a core formed by a central layer 4 of tear-resistant plastics material, such as for example PET, and a metal layer 3 bonded to one or both sides of the plastic layer 4. (The very thin layer of glue is not shown).
Alternatively, one could also have a single metal layer 3, surrounded on both sides by a layer 4 of plastic.
The metal layer 3 comprises discontinuities, corresponding to the removal of material, in particular by chemical or laser etching, to form the turns of an antenna 5. But the antenna 5 may be made by any other known method, without limiting the scope of the present invention.
On one, or preferably on both sides of the core formed by the layers 3,4 of PET and metal, is laminated one or two opaque layers 2 likely to hide the turns of the antenna 5. The outer face of these opaque layers may include printed or engraved information relating to the holder of the passport.
Finally, above the opaque layers 2 can be laminated an optional protective layer 1 of transparent plastic material, allowing to see by transparency the information possibly printed or etched on the opaque layers 2.
Layers 1,2 are in the format of the pages of a passport booklet. On the other hand, it is essential to note that according to the invention, the layers 3,4 of plastic and metal extend a certain distance beyond the layers 1,2, to form an extension 6 which is extends beyond the hinge 8 where the insert will be sewn or stapled in a passport booklet.
In order to obtain sufficient strength of the insert 10 with respect to tearing, this distance, which corresponds to the width of the extension 6, is between 2 and 15 mm.
As can be seen in FIG. 2, it is very advantageous for the metal layer 3 used to form the extension 6 to be the same metal layer that is used to fabricate the antenna 5 (in the case of an electronic data page). ).
In other words, the metal layer or layers 3 which are used to manufacture the antenna, in particular by removal of material, are extended beyond the hinge zone where the data page will be sewn into the passport booklet. This allows both a very simple manufacture of the insert, and increased strength to use thinner layers of material than in the known inserts.
The additional layers 1,2 of the insert are known per se and will not be described further.
The fact that the hinge of the insert has one or more apparent metal layers 3 makes it possible to make visible safety reasons 7. De-metallized patterns, possibly in two-sided register, or patterns embossed in the metal will be used. , embossed microstructures, holograms, laser perforations, color markings, or any other security marking achievable on a metal layer. The insert as shown in Figure 2 can easily be integrated into a data page by rolling the insert with one or more additional layers of material, as known per se. And this data page will then be easily sewn or stapled into a passport booklet, as also known per se.
Advantages of the invention
Ultimately, the invention proposes a new insert design for passport book data page, technological break with respect to known inserts. This insert is just one component of the polycarbonate data page, and it can be sold in this form, or in the complete form after assembly in a data page. The insert obtained is distinguished by its simplicity of assembly, since no additional material is reported to achieve the hinge and its extension beyond the seam area. Indeed, the hinge and its extension use the metal layer of the insert, in which is also carried out the antenna of the insert in the case of an electronic insert. The insert according to the invention is also distinguished by its much higher mechanical resistance to both tearing and tearing, because of the intimate bond between a metal layer and the plastic layers, in particular polyester, who surround him.
The manufacturing process is also very simple and economical. The rolling phase for composing a complete data page can be done in one or more rolling steps, or by going through a first step in order to first constitute an insert, or by rolling together all the layers of the data page. in a single rolling step thus constituting the final data page.
Finally, the presence of an extension of the metal hinge allows both to sew through the metal, which is a guarantee of mechanical strength, and to have an area where many visible safety reasons can be made: engravings, cuts, holograms, watermarks, etc.
When the extension of the metal layer extends over most of the surface of the data page, the metal layer can then form a shield avoiding the reading of the data of the data page, when the passport booklet is closed.
